 Ruritan is a civic service organization whose purpose is to create a better understanding between people and through volunteer community service, make their area a better place to live and work. The slogan of Ruritan is Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service.
Unlike most civic service organizations, Ruritan rarely has national programs. Rather each club surveys its own community as to the needs of that community and then works to meet some of those needs.
A large part of our annual fund raising comes from sponsoring Bluegrass music concerts. Some of the biggest names in Bluegrass Music have appeared at the Fairview Ruritan Club building, and each year brings another lineup of the best musicians in Bluegrass Check out our upcoming shows by the events link at the top of the page.
We also sponsor a Fiddler's Convention each year, offering competition between the region's best talent. For a list of our past convention winners, click on the drop down link at the Fiddler's Convention link at the top of the page.
Other special events are held throughout the year at Fairview. Such events include RV rallies, reunions, banquets, benefits, and community meetings. Our spacious auditorium is available for rent, so call us before your next special occasion for more details.
The Fairview Ruritan Club has been named an official emergency relocation center for Grayson County -- named the Pettigrew Emergency Relocation Center.
